First Post of 2012!

I know...such an original title..

Anyway, I figured I'd just go over what's happening for January. I just started my ethics class, which is a little intimidating because it's pretty much a philosphy class and I'm not the most philosophical guy, lol. But so far, nothing too hard has come up.

The Austrialian Open Tennis start on Monday! Go Murray! Hopefully he'll get a grandslam this year. Also I'm currently watching the new season of Face Off, which is a competition show about special effects artists, pretty awesome, the first season was fantastic! The winner of last season and a couple of the judges are now currently involved with the Hunger Games movie...more awesomeness.

Currently about to read the new Star wars book, Darth Plagiues, which is about Emperor Palpatine's former Master, so this should be interesting.

That's all I can think off at the moment. Hopefully I'll be able to think of a more interesting post next time!

Last post of 2011

Even though I'm terrible at updating this blog, I figured I should at least do one more before the year ends.

Career wise, there's no change...still working at the bookstore and I just spent my 5th christmas at that store. I really need to make sure there isn't a 6th. I did apply to a few jobs, and even got an interview at a bank, but in the end nothing came from it...so we'll see what 2012 brings.

School...I did a whopping 3 classes in 2011, two in spring and one during summer, lol. Mostly that was due to lack of time and money. I have one class lined up for the spring semester, starting next week. Ethics, not sure how it'll go...hopefully interesting and easy.

Health wise nothing too serious as happened, though i have had a bunch of joints pains which randomly come and go...though my kindeys and lungs are fine, so i'm not going to complain too much about that.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I've fallen in love. :) It's still technically an online relationship, but hopefully we'll get to meet in 2012. I feel very lucky to have found her, and she certainly made 2011 better for me. :)

So, that's makes it 4 posts for 2011...hopefully I can beat that in 2012,lol.

What will most likely be a cluster f**k post

I haven't posted for a while, mostly because I haven't got into the habit of blogging yet. So this one will talk about random stuff.

I'll get the boring stuff out of the way first. Even though my Wegeners is technically active, I feel fine. Just went for a blood test, I'll get the result on Monday when I see my Doctor. I'm not too worried about it though.

Work is the same as always, low paying but easy enough. Would be nice if they'd give me full time hours though instead of 30ish. I should really go and get a second job, but I'm lazy. I took British Literature this summer and got an A (just). It was an okay class, started off boring (Beowulf...which somehow makes killing monsters sound boring), but it got better towards the end when stories were easier to understand, like the Importance of being Earnest. I'm taking fall semester off for now...can't really afford another at the moment.

I've been playing a lot of chess online, on chess.com. Not sure if I'm getting any better though, I've lost a lot of games in the tournaments, lol. Although I got a draw recently, only had my king left, I was proud of that. :) Video game wise I've been playing Infamous which I got free from Playstaion Network after their downtime. It's really fun, although because I don't play often, it's taking forever to finish, I'm about 2/3 of the way through playing as a good guy, and I just started an game with me picking the evil options (even though it's a game, I often feel guilty doing that, lol.) On netflix, I have been pretty much revisting my childhood, mostly with saturday morning shows like xmen and power rangers. I also intend to start watching All the star trek episodes. Should be fun. :)

This month seems like it'll be pretty interesting. My Brother's birthday on the 7th and then my Niece's birthday on the 8th. I have my Doctor's appointment on the 8th too, and then another on the 25th. Then it's my birthday on the 26th (and my parent's 34th anniversary). August 27th, Doctor Who! Wooo, Let's kill Hitler! I'm excited. And then on the 29th it's the US Open, Murray's last chance to win a grand slam in 2011.

I guess I should also mention, that I've fallen in love since my last post. :) I might share more on that later.

Advice from a Bookstore Employee.

I'm sure some of the blog will involve me bitching about work, so I should I would start off with my advice to the people on how to avoid looking stupid while shopping for books.

1. Don't ask "where is your non-fiction section?". Most bookstore employees will hesistate and then ask for more information. This hesistation is them screaming "you moron!" in their heads. In most bookstores, the non-fiction section is the majority of the store. It covers biography, history, gardening, cooking, computers, business, music, art, travel, sports, politics, new age, self help, languages, etc. GET SPECIFIC! The only nice answers to "where is the non fiction section?" are "what kind of non fiction?" or "what are you looking for?"

2. If you need a specific book...it helps to know the title and author. Knowing just one or the other can be forgivable, although it can get difficult if several books have that title, or that author has hundreds of books. But if you don't know either of them, why the fuck did you walk into the store? "Hi, I don't know the title or author, but it came out a few months ago, and it has a blue cover"...BOOM! Headshot!

3. Don't get pissed off if we don't have the obscure titles that you want. The main bookstores carry what sells the most. If no one buys them in stores, they get sent back to the warehouse to make room for something that will sell. If you need it, order it online. It's not my fault if you need it in two days but you procrastinated.
As an extension, if you are a parent looking for summer reading books for your kids, again don't get pissed off that we sold out of certain books. Especially if you waited till the last 2 weeks of summer. What? Your kid didn't tell you about it? It happens every year! You can't use that excuse. Come in the store in june when we have the books or can order them for you. (I've just realised that summer is just around the corner.

4. Stop letting your kids ruin the kid section. If you don't teach them to put stuff back where they find it, that's bad parenting. Also, don't let them open packaging and boxes. You may have to pay for it.

That'll do for now methinks.

I'm not suicidal, but my body might be...

I'm not the greatest at blogging...but for some reason I always wish I had one...at least one that had more than a couple of entries in it. Lately I feel like I need to start being serious about this (or as serious as this strange introverted person can be). I need a way to be creative. I need an output. I need something to look forward too. I apoligise in advance. :)

My title...refers to a disease that I was diagnosed with back in the summer of 2008, Wegeners Granulomatosis. I wont bore you with too many details, other than it came very close to killing me by messing up my lungs, causing my kidneys to fail and leaving me with blood clots in my left leg. After several weeks in hospital, about a month of dialysis and a year of being on various meds, I got better and it went into remission. It returned in Jan of 2010, but since I knew what I was looking for I was able to just got straight onto the meds and after 8 months, remission again. Feb 2011...joint pains. I shall mention here, that joint pains are usually my first symptom. So i went for a blood test. It proves that the WG is active again and they stick me back on the steriods.

I'm sorry about that messy paragraph. Anyway, lately I've been feeling fed up about it.everytime I feel like I'm getting healthy and can live my life, I get sick and become a fragile medicated person again. And the drug, Prednisone...although magical...messes the body up big time on long term courses. I'm currently only on the 2nd week of a 3 week course...we'll see what happens after that. Staying out of ER is my main goal.

If you somehow managed to read through all that, then I love you. :) You ROCK! Other topics that future posts will involve include Doctor Who, Introvertedness, Cartoon Network and the joys of working in a bookstore. :)
